Close, yet so far away. In the region between the Black, Red, Mediterranean, and Arabian Seas – also known as the Middle East – a modest past seamlessly blends into a futuristic future. The cradle of many civilizations couldn’t be more defined by contrasts. One example? Qatar’s capital, Doha. It’s a city that seems to defy Mother Nature. One of its districts even stands on an artificially created island! From the very first moment, you’ll be struck by the lavish charm and ultra-modern architecture, as seen in the National Museum or the National Library buildings. For a taste of authentic Qatar, head to Souq Waqif. The market in Doha’s old town is a must-visit for every traveler. Here, humble workers and wealthy sheikhs shop side by side, and whatever you’re looking for, local vendors probably have it in stock. Every spring, the streets between the stalls come alive with musicians, acrobats, and performers. Beyond Doha’s borders lies a desert world that has little in common with the city. We recommend exploring the steep, towering dunes on an off-road quad bike, which you can easily rent here. At the very south of the country near the Saudi Arabian border, you’ll find a true natural wonder. The inland lagoon Khawr al Udayd is currently vying for inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

day 1:
Departure from Prague on a direct flight to Qatar's ultra-modern capital, Doha, a blend of timeless skyscrapers and tradition. Arrival in the afternoon, transfer to the hotel, overnight stay.
day 2:
After breakfast, a city tour with a local guide. We’ll start with a photo stop at the 974 football stadium, built for the 2022 World Cup; it’s the first temporary stadium, constructed from shipping containers. Then, the Museum of Islamic Art, featuring collections of artifacts from the 7th to the 19th century, with a design reminiscent of a Moorish palace or a pyramid. Along the bay runs the 7 km long Corniche waterfront promenade, offering views of the majestic Qatari buildings like Amiri Diwan, Flag Plaza, the Dhow Boats harbor, the old port in Doha, and the famous WestBay towers. Next is a walking tour of the Katara Cultural Village, which brings together several interesting sites—such as the Golden Mosque, the opera house, and an arts center. We’ll pass by the prestigious La Fayette and Shakespeare St. galleries and enjoy the charming alleys of Souq Waqif, located on the site of the original market where Bedouins traded. A short photo stop at the artificial island Pearl Qatar, home to luxury yachts and high-end cars. The program ends in Lusail at a stunning football stadium, also built for the World Cup; a total of eight stadiums were constructed. Return to the hotel, free time for the rest of the day, overnight stay.
day 3:
After breakfast, free time for rest, sightseeing, or shopping. In the afternoon, desert safari in 4x4 vehicles (each vehicle seats 6 people), where you'll get a glimpse into the lifestyle of desert Bedouins at a traditional Bedouin camp on Sealine beach, an adrenaline-filled dune crossing, and a photo stop with a falcon in the dunes. The falcon is Qatar's national symbol and sport, and almost every family owns their own falcon. The desert ride ends at the inland sea Khor Al Adaid at sunset. Return to the hotel, with an optional evening dhow boat cruise along Doha's stunning skyline, including light refreshments, for those interested.
day 4:
After breakfast, departure to the Zekreet Peninsula, known for its unique landscape and film production facilities. Zekreet is located in the northwest of Qatar and is distinguished by its rock formations (Mushroom tower), an abandoned village, and the presence of Zekreet Film City, which has been used for producing films and TV shows. The film city features a mix of traditional and modern Arab architecture. We continue to the camel races, one of the most thrilling and culturally significant events on the Arabian Peninsula. The tradition is deeply rooted in the region's heritage, with majestic camels showcasing speed and endurance. You will enjoy the atmosphere of the camel race, which, beyond the exciting competition, serves as a celebration of the rich cultural heritage and traditions preserved in this part of the world for generations. Return to the hotel, overnight stay.
day 5:
After breakfast, we will set out on an expedition into the country's past and natural beauty in Qatar. The first stop is Al Zubarah, once a thriving pearl fishing town and trading port, now Qatar's largest heritage site with impressive city walls, ancient residential palaces and houses, markets, industrial areas, and mosques. We continue to the old villages of Al Jamail and Al Areesh to get a glimpse of traditional life, including masterpieces of public art such as works by Ernest Neto and Simone Fattal. Next is the ancient fishing town of Al Thakhira with the largest mangrove forest in Qatar. The Purple Island features a captivating ecosystem with fish, migratory birds, and lush greenery.
