day 1:
Flight from Prague to Warsaw – the capital of Poland. Upon arrival, a half-day panoramic city tour with a local guide. The Old Town was almost completely destroyed during the war and, after a successful reconstruction, was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1980. The Renaissance Krasiński Palace, part of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences. Its facade is decorated with reliefs by Faustyn Cengler, with statues of Greek goddesses placed in the niches, surrounded by an extensive garden complex with a pond. The Polish Supreme Court – an impressive building with copper-clad columns, is one of the most monumental structures in the Polish capital. The Łazienki Palace, founded in the 18th century, covers 76 hectares and its name comes from a Baroque bath pavilion from the 1680s. Since 1960, it has housed the Royal Łazienki Museum. In 1926, a statue of Frédéric Chopin – the famous Polish composer and piano virtuoso – was placed in the western part of the park. Accommodation in a hotel in the city center, overnight stay.
day 2:
After breakfast, we continue the city tour with a local guide. Nearly 85% of the historic center was destroyed by soldiers during the Warsaw Uprising in 1944. The Old Town was rebuilt, literally rising from the ashes, and today the city looks like a typical metropolis full of both historic and modern buildings, parks, shops, cafes, and restaurants. Be sure to try the local pierogi, usually filled with meat and cabbage, but there are also versions with mushrooms or curd cheese. Hearty Polish soups are also typical, such as the national dish żurek – a sour soup with sausage, egg, onion, and sour cream, traditionally served in a hollowed-out loaf of bread. Bazaar Różyckiego – the oldest market in Warsaw, founded in the Tsarist era (late 19th century) by a respected local pharmacist. Visit to the Polish vodka museum. Polish vodka is an important part of Polish culture, accompanying the people through historical events for centuries. The local museum is the only one in the world presenting the history, tradition, and role of Polish vodka in life. Return to the hotel, overnight stay.
day 3:
After breakfast, a free day for individual visits to the Polish capital. We recommend, for example, the Palace of Culture and Science, which stands 231 meters tall, has 42 floors, and was the tallest building in Poland when it was officially opened in 1955. The tower's summit houses the 2nd largest [something—context missing], and on the 30th floor there is an observation terrace with panoramic views. The Royal Castle (Zamek Królewski) was completely destroyed during World War II and carefully rebuilt in the 1970s and 1980s. Today, it is a symbol of Polish statehood, culture, and artistic heritage. Inside the castle, you can see richly decorated representative rooms where Polish kings once stayed, art collections including works by Rembrandt, and much more. For an additional fee, a visit to a Chopin concert can be arranged. Overnight at the hotel.
day 4:
After breakfast, transfer to the airport and flight to Prague.
