day 1:
Departure from Prague with a transfer to Mexico.
day 2:
Arrival in the early morning hours to Mexican Cancún, welcome at the airport, transfer to a hotel in the center of Playa del Carmen (about 1 hour). Rest of the day free to relax after the long journey, overnight at the hotel.
day 3:
After breakfast, departure to Chichén Itzá. On the way, stop at a traditional tequileria near Valladolid for a demonstration of the production process and a tasting of several types of tequila. A short drive takes us to the most famous temple complex in northern Yucatán – Chichén Itzá. Its centerpiece is the iconic Kukulkán Temple (El Castillo), one of the 7 New Wonders of the World and a UNESCO World Heritage site. During the spring and autumn equinoxes, an optical illusion of a 'light serpent' appears on its staircase. We will also see the Palace of the Warriors, the Mayan observatory Caracol, the largest known ballgame court for pelota, and the sacred cenote – a well that witnessed ancient sacrifices. Afterwards, transfer to the stylish colonial hacienda Selva Maya and swimming in the picturesque Saamal cenote with an option for lunch (for an extra fee). In the afternoon, transfer to Mérida, accommodation in a 3-star hotel in the city center. Walk through the historic core with colonial-era landmarks around Plaza Mayor: the San Ildefonso Cathedral, the second oldest in the Americas, the palace of conquistador Francisco de Montejo, and the Governor's Palace. In the evening, enjoy the atmosphere of the illuminated Plaza Mayor. Overnight at the hotel.
day 4:
After breakfast, transfer to Uxmal and a tour of one of the most important centers of the Mayan civilization. The complex features a number of fascinating buildings, such as the Temple of the Magician, which houses four more structures within its core, the Royal Palace, and the Nunnery Quadrangle, considered the most perfect example of the so-called Puuc style with richly decorated facades and numerous masks of the rain god Chac. From the top of the Great Pyramid with Nine Steps, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the entire kingdom. Afterwards, transfer to Campeche, check into the hotel, and take a walk through the historic city center, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Campeche is one of Mexico's most picturesque colonial towns, with colorful facades and a peaceful atmosphere. Return to the hotel for overnight stay.
day 5:
After breakfast, we transfer to Palenque, considered by many to be the most beautiful and mysterious site in Central America and the architectural pinnacle of the Mayan civilization. The Mayan kingdom of Palenque is a UNESCO World Heritage site located in the rolling hills of the Altos de Chiapas mountains. Nestled in the emerald-green tropical forest, a large number of temples, palaces, pyramids, and a ball court have been preserved. The kingdom reached its peak in the 7th century AD under the reign of King Pacal. The most significant structures include the Temple of the Inscriptions with the preserved tomb of King Pacal, the Temple of the Sun, El Palacio, the Temple of the Cross, and Templo del Conde. Don’t miss the climb to the top of the Temple of the Leafy Cross, which offers a stunning view over the entire kingdom. This is followed by a short visit to the museum, where you can admire a replica of King Pakal’s sarcophagus, weighing 16 tons. Departure to the hotel, overnight stay.
day 6:
After breakfast, transfer to Becán, hidden deep in the jungle of southern Yucatán in the area known as Río Bec. This once mighty kingdom captivates with its majestic temples and pyramids, most of which you can still climb to enjoy views over the vast green sea of the forest. If the Becán site happens to be closed, you will visit nearby Chicanná – which means 'House of the Snake’s Mouth' in the Mayan language. The city is built in the Chenes style, characterized by zoomorphic motifs – for example, the palace façades are designed as the open jaws of the earth god or a snake. A short drive then takes us to Chetumal, where you will check into your hotel. Overnight stay.
day 7:
After breakfast, visit the 'Lake of Seven Colors' Bacalar – a unique lagoon fed by three underground rivers, with cenotes emerging right on its shores. Optional boat trip on the lake (for an extra fee) and swimming in this picturesque spot surrounded by crystal-clear water. Here, you can also see rare stromatolites – microorganisms considered among the oldest forms of life on Earth (about 3.5 billion years old). After the boat ride, time for lunch. In case of bad weather, visit the Mayan Civilization Museum in Chetumal. Then transfer to Playa del Carmen and check in at an all-inclusive hotel for the final relaxing stay by the sea.
day 8:
Individual free time to relax by the sea at a hotel with an all-inclusive program or for shopping. Enjoy the sound of the waves, stroll along the white sand, and savor traditional Mexican specialties – such as juicy tacos al pastor, aromatic cochinita pibil, or refreshing ceviche made from fresh fish. Pair it with a glass of chilled margarita, sweet agua de horchata, or a refreshing michelada with lime and salt.
