day 1:
Departure from Prague. Late afternoon arrival in Mexico at Cancún airport, transfer to a hotel in the center of Playa del Carmen, check-in, and free evening program.
day 2:
After breakfast, we depart from Playa del Carmen heading south towards Lake Bacalar (about 3.5 hours’ drive) – a natural treasure nicknamed the 'Lake of Seven Colors' due to its incredible range of blue-green shades. We’ll have a chance to swim in the crystal-clear water and an optional boat trip (not included), during which you’ll see where the lake is fed by three underground rivers – cenotes that emerge right at its edges. Also noteworthy are the unique stromatolites, some of the oldest forms of life on the planet, dating back 3.5 billion years. In the middle of the lake is a perfect spot for relaxing and swimming, while on the shore there’s space for a late lunch with a view of this stunning lagoon. In the evening, we’ll move to an eco-resort in Chicanná, nestled right in the jungle. Expect a magical evening in nature – no city lights, with an atmosphere you’ll fall in love with.
day 3:
After breakfast, we head to the heart of southern Yucatán – the jungle area known as Río Bec, where we will visit Becán – an important ceremonial center and once a powerful Mayan kingdom. Surrounded by lush jungle, you'll admire impressive pyramids, palaces, and temples, many of which you can still climb to experience the views once enjoyed by the ancient rulers of this city. The atmosphere of this place, hidden deep in nature, is truly magical. After a short transfer, we arrive at Chicanná – literally 'House with Snake Mouths,' named after one of the most striking temple facades. This site is a gem of Mayan architecture in the Chenes style, characterized by zoomorphic motifs – gods, snakes, and jaguars become part of the structures. The palaces and temples resemble the open jaws of mythical creatures. A unique experience for both the eye and the imagination. To end the day, we have a longer transfer to the legendary city of Palenque, where we will stay overnight near one of the most breathtaking Mayan sites. Overnight in Palenque.
day 4:
In the morning, we will set out to explore the archaeological zone of Palenque, often regarded as the most beautiful Mayan city of the Classic period. This extraordinary site, surrounded by lush jungle and nestled at the foot of the mountains, is steeped in mystery and mysticism. In the 1960s, archaeologists discovered the well-preserved tomb of King Pakal in a crypt beneath the monumental Temple of the Inscriptions, placing Palenque among the most famous Mayan sites in the world. Other significant structures include the Temple of the Sun, the Temple of the Cross, and the expansive Royal Palace, all testifying to the high level of architecture and spiritual life of the time. After the tour, we will take a trip to the Misol-Há waterfalls, hidden in the tropical rainforest, where scenes from the famous film 'Predator' starring Arnold Schwarzenegger were shot. It’s the perfect spot to relax by the refreshing water and immerse yourself in nature. In the evening, we return to Palenque for accommodation and overnight stay.
day 5:
After breakfast, we will transfer to the Ceibo border crossing, where we will enter Guatemala. From there, we continue to Isla Flores, a picturesque and romantic town located on an island in the middle of Lake Petén Itzá. Upon arrival, check-in at the hotel and free afternoon for rest and individual activities. You can swim in the crystal-clear lake, stroll through the town's cobbled streets, or relax in one of the stylish cafes or bars with a view of the sunset over the water. Enjoy a relaxing evening in one of the most charming locations in northern Guatemala.
day 6:
Early morning departure from Flores and visit to „Parque Nacional Tikal“, one of the largest and most renowned centers of Mayan culture from the Classic period. Tour of the Central and Northern Acropolis, the “Great Jaguar” temple, the “Temple of Masks,” “Temple V,” as well as the “Mundo Perdido” (Lost World), the group of “Seven Temples,” and the tallest Mayan temple/pyramid in Tikal and all of Mesoamerica, which is “Templo IV” standing nearly 70 m tall. Tikal is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Transfer to the hotel, overnight stay.
