Tour itinerary

day 1

Flight from Prague to Rome, arrival in the Eternal City, which is even more impressive during the holidays than at any other time. Transfer to the hotel, check-in, and a short walk to the city center, where we will visit, for example, Capitoline Hill, the most historically significant of the seven hills of ancient Rome, the political and religious center of antiquity. Here you will find the basilica of S. Maria in Aracoeli with its steep staircase and the Capitoline Museums. Next, the Roman Forum, ruins of magnificent ancient buildings originally used for gatherings, trade, and justice, and of course the largest amphitheater, the Colosseum, one of the most famous architectural works in the world and a symbol of the city. Return to the hotel, overnight stay.

day 2

Walking tour through historic Rome with a local guide, showcasing the most important landmarks of ancient and medieval Rome, such as Trevi Fountain, Piazza di Spagna and the Spanish Steps, where you will find famous and beautiful markets right below the stairs leading to the church of Santissima Trinità dei Monti. We will also visit the Pantheon or Piazza Navona with its historic carousel, stalls with Christmas decorations and roasted chestnuts, and a Christmas tree. Here you can also see one of the most beautiful fountains in the city by Bernini - Fontana Dei Quattro Fiumi, as well as the church of St. Agnes and Palazzo Pamphili. In the afternoon, papal Rome - Vatican, the smallest state in the world with its own post office, magazines and newspapers, radio station, train station, flag, and the papal guard made up of Swiss Guards, and the world-famous St. Peter's Square with its semicircular colonnades and an Egyptian obelisk in the center. Above the square rises the most famous Christian sanctuary, the St. Peter's Basilica, dedicated to the Apostle Peter, the first bishop of Rome. Individually, there is the option to visit the Castel Sant'Angelo, or we can arrange optional tickets to the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel.

day 3

After breakfast, a guided tour of more city landmarks or free time for individual visits to sights and museums. For those interested, we can arrange optional tickets to the Colosseum – the largest amphitheater of the Roman Empire. In the afternoon, free time to visit the Christmas markets held in several locations, or preparation for New Year's Eve celebrations. Illuminated streets and colorful fireworks contrasting with ancient monuments, stalls with many Italian delicacies and gifts create a unique New Year's Eve atmosphere. In the evening, individual celebration of the New Year.

day 4

After breakfast, check-out from the hotel, individual program, transfer to the airport, flight to Prague.
