Tour program:

day 1:

arrival

Departure from Prague in the evening with a transfer to Finnish Oulu. Oulu is a vibrant city in northern Finland – it combines modern technology, nature, and Nordic tranquility. Transfer to the hotel, overnight stay.

day 2:

icebreaker

After breakfast, departure to the port city of Kemi, located on the river of the same name. Visit the ice castle and winter park, where real snow and ice are present 365 days a year. The largest snow castle in the world, rebuilt annually since 1996; its area ranges between 13,000 and 20,000 m². Lunch at the Lumihiutale restaurant. Then a tour of SnowExperience365, where you can walk on snowy floors and admire beautiful ice sculptures. The theme of the ice sculptures changes from time to time. Bus transfer to the harbor, followed by an icebreaker cruise. The Bay of Bothnia is one of the few places on earth where the sea completely freezes over in winter! Experience the power of the old giant breaking the ice beneath you, and take a dip in a pool of icy seawater, all comfortably inside a warm suit. Experience ice floating firsthand, a unique Nordic activity where you wear a special thermal suit and float in a frozen lake or sea, often in a hole cut into the ice. This is a popular activity in Finland, Sweden, and Lapland, especially in winter when the surrounding temperature is well below zero. All participants of the cruise receive a commemorative certificate. Transfer back to the hotel, dinner, overnight stay.

day 3:

arctic circle / aurora hunting

After breakfast, transfer to Rovaniemi. The name Rovaniemi is made up of two Sámi words, Rova and Niemi, meaning a forested mountain ridge. Snow covers the area for 175 days a year, with average annual temperatures around 1°C. Many temperature records have been set here, including one where the sun shone continuously for 122 hours. Rovaniemi is also the official home of Santa Claus. Santa’s original home was in a mysterious place called Korvatunturi, the 'Ear Feld,' known only to a select few. However, in 1985, Santa Claus decided to establish an office here in Rovaniemi. This allows him to meet visitors from all over the world and share his wisdom about happiness. Visit Santa’s Village, where you can cross the Arctic Circle at the central square. Christmas is literally celebrated here all year round—you can send postcards from Santa Claus’s post office, which delivers worldwide, visit Mrs. Claus’s café, see elves, reindeer, or huskies. Next is a private visit directly with Santa Claus, where you can take photos with him, children can draw pictures or write letters in his presence. Transfer to a hotel in central Rovaniemi, free time before dinner, dinner, and in the evening we will go aurora hunting (northern lights). In Finland, the aurora is visible about 200 days a year, making it one of the best places in the world to see it. The Aurora expedition is conducted in the comfort of a minibus, with stops along the way for photography. You will receive tips on how to capture the northern lights realistically to keep the most beautiful memory. Enjoy a hot drink, taste traditional Lappish gingerbread, and then just wait to see if the aurora appears on the horizon. The guide will provide information about the nature and animals of Lapland. Return to the hotel, overnight stay.
