Prof. Miroslav Bárta, archaeologist and renowned Egyptologist
Recipient of the highest Czech scientific award Česká hlava, he has been active in Egypt for over three decades. Besides Egyptology, he studies comparative civilizations and is the author of the theory of seven laws of civilization development. In 2010, he became the director of research at the pyramid field in Abusir.
Together with his team, he has made numerous groundbreaking discoveries in Egypt – from the tomb of the sage Kairsu, through the burial complex of the official Nefer and princess Sheretnebty, to the oldest preserved funerary boat from the 3rd dynasty. He was also the first to conduct a detailed analysis of Egypt's pyramid fields using satellite imagery.
For his scientific work, he has received many prestigious international awards. He is a member of leading global scientific organizations, including The Explorers' Club in New York and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, where he is currently the only Czech representative. He is currently researching one of the last unexplored Egyptian pyramids.
Mgr. et Mgr. Dana Bělohoubková, Ph.D
For Dana Bělohoubková, the history of Egypt is not just a collection of dates but a living story full of mysteries, power struggles, and fascinating details of everyday life.
She studied Egyptology, ethnology, and classical archaeology. Her specialization is the New Kingdom period, especially the role women played – whether in administration or as part of rituals.
Since 2015, she has been a member of the Czech Institute of Egyptology team, which studies shaft tombs in western Abusir. She can tell you about local mysteries for hours – engagingly, with perspective, and without textbook clichés.
"Egypt is not just about pyramids – the greatest adventures often took place in the shadows. That’s why I enjoy looking beyond the veil of everyday life to find stories that chronicles have overlooked."

During this unique expedition, Čedok will guide clients through several pyramid fields including the famous Giza, the desert Saqqara, and the unassuming Dahshur. In legendary Egyptian museums, iconic artifacts and forgotten treasures will be showcased. On top of that, the mysterious site of Abusir, usually off-limits to the public, will be unlocked. All this exclusively with us!**
day 1
Departure from your chosen airport to Cairo, transfer to the hotel, accommodation, dinner, overnight stay.
day 2
Breakfast. Let's start the expedition with a visit to Abusir, the burial site of legendary sun kings, which Czech Egyptologists have been studying for several decades. The area is strictly guarded and closed to the public. It will open its gates only for us and for one day only. We will explore the pyramid complexes of rulers Neferirkare, Raneferef, Nyuserre, and the founder of this pyramid necropolis, Sahure. We will also visit the tomb of the vizier Ptahshepses, where Czech Egyptologists began their work sixty years ago. During the day, lunch will be served at a local restaurant. Then we will move through the desert to the tombs from the Late Period, where 25 meters underground we will see the untouched burial chamber and sarcophagus of the priest Iufaa. Finally, we will stop at the so-called southern Abusir, where tombs with truly unique reliefs will be open, including the oldest preserved love song in the world. During the day, we will visit Mennofer (Memphis), the capital of ancient Egypt during the Old Kingdom. Return to the hotel, dinner, overnight stay. The entire day will be led by Prof. Miroslav Bárta.
day 3
Breakfast. The third day will be dedicated to one of Egypt's main burial sites, the desert necropolis of Saqqara. It is in Saqqara where the pyramids of the rulers of the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th dynasties stand. Among the most significant, which we will of course visit, are the pyramids of the rulers Djoser and Teti. We will also see the tomb complexes of the most important nobles of their time – the dignitaries Ti and Mereruka. To finish, we will descend into the deep galleries of Serapeum, the burial place of the sacred bulls. Lunch will be served during the day at one of the local restaurants. After moving to southern Saqqara, we will stop at the oldest royal structure in the area, the Mastabat Fara'un, which, unlike the buildings in Giza, has the shape of a so-called mastaba. King Djedkare also built his pyramid here, which is currently being researched by a Czech team from Charles University. Return to the hotel, dinner, overnight stay. The entire day will be led by Prof. Miroslav Bárta.
day 4
Breakfast. The significant royal necropolis of Dahshur is home to some of the oldest, largest, and best-preserved ancient Egyptian monuments from the reigns of the Old and Middle Kingdoms. Compared to Giza, you'll also encounter far fewer tourists here. Among the most famous structures are the Bent Pyramid, which changes shape halfway up, and the Red Pyramid, named for the high iron content in the stone used. During the day, lunch will be served at a local restaurant. The expedition concludes in the Middle Egyptian village of Meidum. Here stands one of the oldest Egyptian pyramids, sometimes called the 'false pyramid'—it was originally stepped and later smoothed into its current form. Nearby lies a remarkable mastaba and a handful of important burial sites. Return to the hotel, dinner, overnight stay. The entire day is led by Prof. Miroslav Bárta.
day 5
Breakfast. Today we will spend the day in Giza, home to probably the most famous pyramids on the entire planet. They were built over 4,000 years ago for the renowned kings of ancient Egypt's Old Kingdom. The main local attraction is the trio of royal pyramids: Khafre's, Menkaure's, and the tallest of all, the Great Pyramid of Khufu. The famous Great Sphinx also bears witness to the glorious ancient Egyptian civilization and still puzzles even the greatest minds in world archaeology. No one has been able to determine which ruler commissioned its carving. During the day, lunch will be served at a local restaurant. We will also visit the partially completed Grand Egyptian Museum, whose collections showcase the best of what was created in ancient Egypt – including items from the tomb of Tutankhamun himself. Return to the hotel, dinner, overnight stay. The entire day will be led by Mrs. Mgr. Dana Bělohoubková, Ph.D.
day 6
Breakfast. Today we will be surrounded by immense culture and history. The new building of the Egyptian Museum from 1902 is literally bursting at the seams. It houses more than 100,000 historical treasures, enough to fill several European museums with ease. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. Thanks to the vast number of artifacts, the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization was established, where the ancient Egyptian mummies of kings and queens have been relocated. This renowned institution, opened in 2017, will of course be part of our program. Return to the hotel, dinner, and overnight stay. The entire day will be led by Mrs. Mgr. Dana Bělohoubková, Ph.D.
day 7
Breakfast. At the end of the trip, we will visit the vast Fayyum Oasis. It features a large lake, beautiful greenery, and cascading waterfalls. An interesting fact is that the oasis is not fed by underground springs but by canals from the Nile, created by the ancient Egyptians. Return to the hotel, dinner, and overnight stay. The entire day will be led by Mrs. Mgr. Dana Bělohoubková, Ph.D.
day 8
Flight to the destination.
