Tour itinerary
Day 1: Early morning departure from Prague to the Tyrolean capital Innsbruck, where we will first stop at the Olympic area by the ski jumps (entrance to the jumps is not included in the trip price) and then continue to the city center, where we will certainly not miss the chance to visit the pedestrian zone with the famous Golden Roof, the symbol of this city, the Franciscan church with the tomb of Emperor Maximilian, surrounded by statues of notable European rulers, and the Church of St. James with beautiful frescoes and an altar painting of the Madonna by Cranach the Elder. In the evening, departure to the accommodation area. Accommodation near Ischgl, dinner, overnight stay.
Day 2: After breakfast, departure to the high-altitude Silvretta Dam located on the watershed between the Inn and Rhine rivers. Opportunity for easy hiking (the reservoir can be circled in about 2 hours of comfortable walking). Then we continue through the beautiful Montafon Valley with a stop in the picturesque Bartholomäberg, the oldest settlement in the valley, dominated by a beautiful church with historic organs and a valuable carved altar. Stop at a cheese dairy (cheese tasting, raclette, or cheese soup available for about 20 EUR). On the return trip, we will drive along the famous Arlberg Road, built during the reign of Joseph II, with a stop at the summit of the Arlberg Pass. Return to the hotel, dinner, overnight stay.
Day 3: Early morning drive upstream along the Inn River to the most beautiful valley in eastern Switzerland, the Engadin. Continue to visit the high-altitude winter sports resort and Olympic town of St. Moritz. After an individual tour of the town, we continue along the high mountain road to the Bernina Pass, where we take a cable car up to the Diavolezza viewpoint. We then continue by the adhesion-based Rhaetian Railway (fare about 44 CHF, not included) past the Bernina hospice and further over the Bernina Pass, descending nearly 2000 m through a series of stunning hairpin bends and spiral tunnels, including the only circular viaduct in Europe, to Campocologno on the Italian border, where the bus awaits. Return to accommodation via the Bernina Pass summit and the Engadin valley. Evening return to accommodation, dinner, overnight stay.
Day 4: More active guests will surely take advantage of the hiking opportunities. From Ischgl, a cable car leads to the high mountain terrain in the Idalpe area, which also offers many interesting and easy hiking trails. In summer months, it is also possible to visit the duty-free Swiss zone of Samnaun via a network of connected cable cars. The area has many mountain huts known for their typical high-quality Tyrolean hospitality. Dinner. Overnight stay.
Day 5: Departure through the Arlberg tunnel to Brandnertal, a romantic and still undiscovered valley on the Tyrolean-Swiss border. We ascend to the resort village of Brand, from where we continue on a high mountain scenic road to 1565 m above sea level and then by cable car to 1970 m at Lünersee, the highest natural lake in Austria, located in a magical rocky basin. In the afternoon, we continue to the capital of Vorarlberg, Bregenz, situated on the shore of Lake Constance. Return to the Czech Republic in the evening or around midnight. (departure 17.9.)
